Heavenly Delusion Manga Gets An Anime Adaptation

The anime will be released sometime in 2023.

Masakazu Ishiguro’s sci-fi adventure manga, Heavenly Delusion, is getting an anime adaptation produced by Production I.G. The anime will be released sometime in 2023.

A new website was launched for the anime where all the information regarding it will be posted. The site unveiled the first teaser visual for the anime adaptation to commemorate the announcement on Oct 18, 2022.

In addition, a celebratory illustration by the mangaka Ishiguro along with his comment was also revealed.

Here is what the mangaka had to say about the anime adaptation:

Actually, I thought that animation was the best way to depict the desolate beauty and despair of the ruined everyday scenery.
However, since I am a manga artist, I was struggling with black and white still images, but I never thought that an animation project would start.
I can’t wait to see what kind of journey Kiruko and Maru will take when they are brought to life from the anime.

More details regarding the cast, staff and release date will be revealed at a later time.

Heavenly Delusion manga has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon since January 2018.

The first volume was released on July 23, 2018. As of March 2022, seven volumes have been released.

In North America, the series is licensed for English language release by Denpa. The first volume was released on Dec 31, 2019.

In 2024, the world collapsed-

Fifteen years have passed since the unprecedented disaster. In the ruins of Japan, strange creatures called “cannibals” are nesting, and the people are living in a small huddle.

Kiruko, a handywoman in Nakano, Tokyo, receives a mysterious request from a woman.

The girl said, “Take this child to ‘heaven’…” and with her last breath, she entrusted Maru, a boy, to her.
Maru says that there is a man in “Heaven” who looks just like him, but he doesn’t know anything more than that.
