One Piece Announces Two New Films Five Years After Film Red

One Piece is returning to the big screen with two new theatrical anime films, marking the franchise’s first new movie projects in five years since One Piece Film Red premiered in 2022.

The two films are titled One Piece Film God Valley and One Piece Film BAAD and were announced on Aug 23 during the second day of the two-day One Piece Day’ 26 event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

One Piece Film God Valley is scheduled to premiere in Japan in summer 2027, while One Piece Film BAAD is slated for release in 2029.

A teaser video for the new projects was also unveiled during the announcement.

One Piece Film God Valley will adapt the God Valley flashback from the currently airing Elbaph Arc and will be released during the 30th anniversary year of Eiichiro Oda’s manga, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump on July 22, 1997.

One Piece Film BAAD, on the other hand, will coincide with the 30th anniversary celebrations of the anime adaptation, which premiered in Japan on Oct 20, 1999.

Unlike Film God Valley, the story of Film BAAD remains unknown at this time.

One Piece Film Red, the franchise’s previous theatrical film, was released in Japan in August 2022 and earned 20.33 billion yen at the domestic box office. The film centered on Uta, the daughter of Shanks, and became a major commercial success.

The newly announced movies will be the 16th and 17th feature films in the franchise.
