Gachiakuta Chapter 174 Release Finally Adressed By Kodansha

Gachiakuta chapter 174 was originally scheduled to release on Aug 25, 2026. However, three weeks later, the chapter continued to elude fans with no official update on its status.

This radio silence from the staff caused the fandom to not just be frustrated, but also concerned as to what was going on behind the scenes.

Given author Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou’s public fallout with the toxic side of the fandom and their subsequent sabbatical from X, there was growing doubt that something unspeakable had happened to the manga.

However, Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine has finally addressed the delayed release of Gachiakuta chapter 174.

The magazine’s official X account revealed on Sep 9, 2026, that Gachiakuta indeed was on a hiatus and apologized for the concern the unannounced delay had caused the fandom.

However, the magazine did not specify the cause of the hiatus, nor did they specify any concrete release window for chapter 174.

“We apologize for causing concern as the hiatus for Gachiakuta continues. Regarding the date of its resumption, we will make another announcement as soon as it is decided. We truly appreciate your continued support and encouragement for Gachiakuta,” Weekly Shonen Magazine’s notice on X read.

This is not the first time that Kei Urana has taken a break, especially during the serialization of the latest Doll Festival arc.

The manga previously went on a seven-week hiatus earlier in 2026, which began following the publication of chapter 162.5 on Feb 3. The series eventually resumed with chapter 163 on March 25.

In addition to the breaks, the pages in the latest chapters were also lesser than the standard 19-page release for a weekly manga, suggesting that the author could have been having a hard time meeting deadlines.

The latest Gachiakuta hiatus could very well be a well deserved time off for Kei Urana to recover and plan ahead, given that the Doll Festival arc has concluded. Interestingly, the author had previously taken breaks for collecting information and planning her upcoming story arcs.

Gachiakuta began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on Feb 16, 2022. The series’ chapters have been collected into 19 tankobon volumes as of July 2026. It won the best shonen manga honor at Kodansha’s 50th manga awards.

An anime adaptation by Bones Film aired in 2025, with its second season confirmed to be in production.
