The Beginning After The End comic will go on hiatus after chapter 259, which is scheduled to release on Oct. 29.
Author TurtleMe confirmed the hiatus in a statement on X, adding that he does not yet have answers about the comic’s future following Tapas’ shutdown.
“I wish I had more information to share, but the honest truth is, I don’t have answers yet about what comes next,” TurtleMe wrote. He added that he is still working to find answers and will continue pushing for a way forward.
TurtleMe also reflected on the comic’s history of setbacks, acknowledging that this is not the first time the series has faced an uncertain period. He thanked readers for continuing to support The Beginning After The End through its various ups and downs, emphasizing how much their patience has meant to him and his team.
“I know this isn’t the first time we’ve been here. TBATE has definitely had more ups and downs than any of us would like, and every time, you’ve stuck around,” he wrote. “Your patience means more to me than I can ever express.“
Despite the uncertainty, TurtleMe reiterated his commitment to the series and expressed confidence in his team’s ability to navigate the situation.
“Please know I’ll keep doing everything in my power to continue the comic,” he added.
He also thanked readers who had spent their remaining Ink, Tapas’ platform currency, on The Beginning After The End in recent weeks.
TurtleMe did not provide a timeline for the comic’s return or details about where it might continue following the hiatus. He promised to share further information when it becomes available.
The announcement follows Tapas’ confirmation that it will terminate all operations on March 31, 2027.
According to an FAQ published by Tapas on Oct. 1, readers will lose access to previously unlocked episodes and their comic libraries once the platform’s servers shut down. Tapas also halted Ink purchases and disabled in-app methods of earning free Ink, although users can spend their existing balances until the shutdown date.
TurtleMe had previously addressed the closure, admitting that he was still trying to understand the situation and was in shock over the news. At the time, he assured readers that he would work to keep both The Beginning After The End and Soul Forged ongoing.
