Host clubs are a type of night-club in Japan where male hosts entertain female customers who come to their organization. This is done by holding conversation with customers (often flirtatious), drinking alcohol with them and singing karaoke.

The first host club was opened in Tokyo in 1966. In 1996, the number of Tokyo host clubs was estimated to be 200, and a night of non-sexual entertainment could cost USD 500–600.

Host clubs were also the main focus in the anime Ouran High School Host Club.

Anya Forger has been trending ever since Spy x Family anime started airing. From fans editing the character into scenes from other manga to cosplayer facing backlash for drinking in Anya’s costume, the character has been in the news for a lot of things.

Spy × Family is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo. It has been serialized biweekly on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ application and website since March 2019, with the chapters collected in nine tankōbon volumes as of April 2022.

The manga has exceeded over 350 million reads on the Shonen Jump+ digital platform and over 17 million copies of the collected volumes were printed (physically) and sold (digitally) in Japan.

Viz Media has licensed the series for English release in North America.

According to the recent Oricon sales records, Spy x Family became the best-selling series in Japan in April 2022 with most volumes of the same ranking in the volume-wise sales chart. The sales number is mostly boosted by the release of the anime in Spring 2022.
