Jujutsu Kaisen manga got a special 16 page epilogue which was a part of the 30th and final volume of the manga. Author Gege Akutami decided to dedicate these 16 pages to give some final bits and pieces about Itadori, Yuko Ozawa, Nobara, Panda, Uraume, and Sukuna.
And interestingly, the four part epilogue revealed what exactly happened to Panda and Yuta after the events of the manga.
Well, for starters, we know that both Panda and Yuta survived Kenjaku’s Jujutsu terrorism and the subsequent onslaught by Sukuna.
Yuta’s condition was especially precarious, but the final chapters allayed any fears that fans might have had about his fate.
Now, the third part of the 16 page epilogue, focused on the story of Panda. Surprisingly, the timeline of this section was way in the future and also featured Yuta’s grandkids.
Yes, you read that right, it featured Yuta’s grandkids. But the surprise doesn’t end there.
What happened to Panda in JJK?
As I mentioned before, the epilogue focused on Panda in the year 2080. And he was now a doll in Gojo clan’s storeroom. It is Yuta’s grandchildren who stumble upon him.
A brief narration explains what happened to Panda after the events of November 2018.
Panda did survive, but its Mutual Observation Type Independent Control apparently stopped functioning after the jujutsu terrorism.
And in October 2035 Panda altogether stopped functioning properly, and the cursed corpse was then registered into the Gojo family’s storage.
But why? Why would Panda be on a shelf rather than enjoying his life? Well, let’s try to understand what happened in a bit more in detail.
We know that Panda is not an actual panda but an Abrupt Mutated Cursed Corpse, a special cursed corpse which can think, speak, and feel.

Yaga achieved this by replicating soul information from physical information of a body, and inputting it into multiple cores which were housed in a single cursed corpse.
Once three highly compatible souls were placed in a single body, they would observe one another constantly. Within three months of this, the cursed corpse attained self-sustaining cursed energy and became fully sentient.
However, two of Panda’s cores were destroyed over the course of the story.
This meant that the three cores observing and working in tandem was no longer possible. And so, the creation of self sustaining cursed energy would also stop.
This meant that Panda’s sentient nature would eventually whittle down. This eventually happened in 2035. And that’s why it was registered for safekeeping in Gojo’s store house.
However, the best part is Panda can still move and talk sometimes. And moreover, it still has its memories from its time with Yuta and others.
What happened to Yuta in JJK?
Ok, moving on the more curious situation. Well, we knew that Yuta survived. And now we know that he did manage to have somewhat of a peaceful life.
The epilogue revealed two important details about him:
- Yuta became Gojo Clan’s Head Representative.
- He was atleast alive till 2035, by which he had children and probably a peaceful future.
The epilogue mentioned that certain items in the Gojo family’s storage legally passed to Yuta because he was the Gojo clan head representative. And that is why we see Yuta’s grandkids playing with Panda doll in the future.
Let’s get to the why part now.
Yuta is a distant relative of the Gojo family and his tutelage under Satoru likely gave him a legitimate claim to inherit certain responsibilities and assets.
Also, we did know that Satoru was the strongest member in the Gojo clan. With his death, the status of the clan as the big three surely would have been threatened. So, making Yuta the head representative sure was a strategic move on their part.
But no matter how it happened, this was very heartening development to see for sure.
Or, like with Megumi, Satoru probably left behind a will which would let Yuta take over his duties.
While we don’t get any mention of Yuta, or who he married, or how long he lived for (and if he is still alive), we can say that he survived till 2035 atleast and managed to have children.
And I guess we all know the answer to the question of he eventually got together with!

Here’s another interesting detail we can see in the panels. Right next to panda, we see a set of katanas that belonged to Yuta probably. We might have to see if any of the other things in the room make any sense.
