The editorial department of Hunter x Hunter revealed that the manga has officially surpassed 100 million copies in circulation worldwide, including digital editions.

The achievement coincides with the release of Volume 39 on July 3 and comes as the series resumes publication with chapter 411 in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.

The milestone places Hunter x Hunter among the titles from Shueisha to exceed 100 million copies in circulation, which includes One Piece, Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Kingdom, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Slam Dunk, and KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops.

To commemorate the achievement, Shueisha has planned several promotional initiatives.

These include a citywide “Shibuya HUNTER City” campaign featuring more than 100 character advertisements across Tokyo’s Shibuya district, a commemorative newspaper advertisement in the Asahi Shimbun, a special promotional video on the Jump Channel YouTube account, and a limited-time free release of the manga’s first 340 chapters on the Shonen Jump+ and Zebrack platforms.

The circulation milestone comes nearly three decades after Hunter x Hunter began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998.

Despite its popularity, the series has also become known for its irregular publication schedule due to Togashi’s chronic health issues.

Weekly serialization ended following Chapter 400 in December 2022 after the editorial department announced that future chapters would be published outside the magazine’s traditional weekly format. The manga briefly returned with Chapters 401–410 between October and December 2024 before entering another break.

It was adapted into a 62-episode anime television series produced by Nippon Animation and directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, which ran on Fuji Television from October 1999 to March 2001. Three separate original video animations (OVAs) totaling 30 episodes were subsequently produced by Nippon Animation and released in Japan from 2002 to 2004.
