Hunter x Hunter creator Yoshihiro Togashi’s younger brother, Hideaki Togashi, has commented on the manga’s notoriously slow release schedule, joking that the series will never be completed if it continues at its current pace.
Hideaki, a former manga artist who now runs the Togashi family’s stationery store, The Togashi Paper Store (which is also the author’s childhood home), reportedly made the remark during a fan’s recent visit to the shop.
Despite being busy with preparations for the Obon holiday, Hideaki spent about an hour speaking with the visitor, sharing family anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories about Hunter x Hunter.
According to the fan’s X post, Hideaki repeatedly stated that “Hunter x Hunter will never be completed if it only gets 10 chapters every two years.”
The comment comes as the manga continues its latest serialization run after another lengthy hiatus.
Hunter x Hunter resumed publication on June 28 with chapter 411, following a break that began in December 2024. The series has since maintained a weekly release schedule, with chapter 417 being published Aug 9.
The fan’s visit to the shop (Togashi Kamiten) also provided a look at Hunter x Hunter material displayed inside the store. Among the items photographed was original character-setting artworks.

Togashi’s health has been a major factor behind the manga’s lengthy breaks. The creator has previously discussed his chronic back pain, which has made it difficult for him to work on Hunter x Hunter consistently.
The manga, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998, has consequently accumulated numerous hiatuses throughout its publication.
