Yang Can’t Live Alone Creator Pulls Series From Square Enix’s Manga UP! Over Broken Trust With Publisher

The creator of Yang Can’t Live Alone, sooncha, posted a statement on X announcing that the manga’s serialization on Square Enix’s Manga UP! app will end this month after a breakdown in their relationship with the publisher.

According to the statement, the series will conclude with chapter 15 part 3, scheduled for release on Aug 13.

“This time, due to the breakdown of our relationship of trust with Manga UP!, Yang Senpai will end its serialization with Chapter 15 Part 3. I sincerely apologize to all readers for having to make this announcement just before the release of Volume 3,” the creator wrote.

sooncha is currently negotiating with the editorial department to have the rights to the series reverted so the story can continue in the future.

The creator also addressed the release of the manga’s third compiled volume, which is scheduled to go on sale on Aug 6, saying it was no longer possible to halt publication of either the print or digital editions. The creator advised readers who have concerns to cancel their preorders if they wish, while apologizing for the situation.

“As for Volume 3, which is scheduled for release on Aug. 6, we have been informed that it is no longer possible to halt publication in either print or digital format. If you have any concerns, we ask that you please cancel your order if necessary.“

The creator added that further details will be announced by Manga UP! at a later date.

Square Enix began serializing the manga on Dec 5, 2024, and describes its plot as:
