Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was a runaway hit from summer 2019 anime season. The main shounen protagonist Tanjiro Kamado is known for being a responsible and compassionate elder brother. His warm nature knows no bounds which made him a fan favourite even among small children!
So here we are with 15 memorable Tanjiro Kamado quotes from the series Demon Slayer:
“Everything that I couldn’t do for the others…I’ll do it all for you!”
After the Kamadao family is annihilated only Nezuko is all Tanjiro has. But to his misfortune, she has become a bloodthirsty demon. Even when Tanjiro is carrying her forgetting all exhaustion, all he thinks about is Nezuko’s well being. He promises to give everything to his little sister that he couldn’t do for his other siblings.
“Breathe all the way into my fingertips! Meditation boosts concentration.”
After battling Rui, Tanjiro realized how much he needs to train more to defeat one of the 12 Kizukis. The trio suggested he must start practicing Total Concentration Breathing which enhances the limits of the physical body exponentially. Thus, remembering Urokodaki’s words, Tanjiro sought the help of meditation to focus on his Total Concentration Breathing.
“Head on battles are simple. Whoever’s stronger and faster wins.”
Even though Kamado Tanjiro was smart from the start, he lacked battle skills. As he started training under Urokodaki sensei, he learned various breathing techniques and common senses used in battles. When he was faced with his final challenge during training, Tanjiro met Sabito who beat him to shape. With time, Tanjiro found a way to defeat Sabito and move on.
“No! Because once I’ve mastered it myself, I can teach them, too!”
Mastering Total Concentration Breathing was an important stepping stone in Demon Slaying Training. Though Tanjiro got the hang of it, Zenitsu and Inosuke were still lagging behind. So, at Shinobu’s request he took upon the task to get them on line.
“I was able to withstand it because I’m the oldest son! But I couldn’t have if I were the second!”
A fitting quote for Tanjiro alone. Being an older sibling is full of responsibilities. To be human, Tanjiro, the oldest of the six Kamado children knew the hardships to bear the family name. If he were the second oldest, he might have taken it easy. That is why time and again Tanjiro talks himself up to last a few minutes longer until he reaches his goal.
“Work at it. All I can do is work hard! That’s the story of my life!”
After Tanjiro lost his family, his main focus was to turn Nezuko back to human. For that, he needed to become a Demon hunter. And for what the anime has shown so far is just the beginning of his long journey. His training has just begun and he will soon unfold the hidden strengths of his body.
“No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living. No matter how devastating the blows might be.”
One of the inspiring yet heartbreaking moments in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba is when Kazumi breaks down before Tanjiro. Just as, Kazumi accuses Tanjiro to be ignorant of the empty feeling of losing a loved one, Tanjiro answers with a bitter smile and uttered these words.
“Anyone who hurts my sister, Hashira or not, I won’t let you get away with it.”
Tanjiro is known to speak his mind. Not even the title of “Pillar” can scare him off. And if it comes down to his sister, you better suit yourself. Tanjiro WILL headbutt you. A brother’s love knows no bounds!
“No one will ever severe the bond between us.”
Episode 19 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is the reason the anime went off the charts! With “Kamado Tanjiro no Uta” in the background and the brilliant animation as the Kamado duo sent Rui’s head flying is a moment when our heart stopped. This quote resonates with the whole motive of the series.
“It’s the heart that drives people forward. Your heart can grow as strong as you want it to!
While on his journey as a Demon Hunter, Tanjiro helped many people without realizing it. His gentlemanly behaviour without lewding is just another feature that defines him as a superior character. Tanjiro might be an airhead sometimes but his heart is in the right place. His heart is so pure, that even Urokodaki thought Tanjiro could never become a Demon Slayer. But, Tanjiro found enough courage to be compassionate to both humans and demons. He preached the same to Kanao to become true to herself.
“To dispel the regrets of those killed, to stop any more victims from appearing, I will relentlessly wield my blade against the Demons and that’s a fact. But I will not trample on the pains of being a Demon. Nor on those who regret their actions. Because Demons were humans… they were humans like me.”
Tanjiro’s limitless empathy towards Demons might be looked down upon by many but all he asks for is justice. Tanjiro has known the pain of a Demon by staying in Nezuko, Lady Tamayo and Yushiro’s side. They were all human beings at some point but due to unfortunate circumstances they had fallen prey to Muzan’s blood. That is why even if Tanjiro refuses to forgive the man eating demons for killing, he feels sorry for them after freeing their life.
“Not only that, but those who share a strong bond give off the scent of trust. Yet all I’m picking up from you two is the scent of terror, hatred and repulsion. Thats not what you call a bond. It’s counterfeit! It’s fake!”
Rui’s arc was one of the best arcs in the Demon Slayer series. A trusted bond between siblings is inseparable. And the love and affection shows in the actions between Nezuko and Tanjiro every time. The harsh treatment Rui’s family members get is visible to the naked eye which does not require Tanjiro’s sense of smell at all. Thus, when Rui claims to have Nezuko as his sister, it’s infuriating for both Tanjiro and us!
“If you can’t tell the difference between good Demons and bad ones, then you don’t deserve to be a Hashira!!
This is one of the best quotes delivered by Tanjiro in the series. Hashira or not Tanjiro despises each and everyone who cannot differentiate someone good from the bad. The nine Pillars are considered to be the most superior beings in the Demon Slayer Corps, yet Tanjiro begs to differ. He won’t sit still without taking action when his sister is in the question.
“Who in their right mind will call her an eyesore? Just take a good look at those features. Nezuko was known as the town beauty!”
Seriously. How dare you Yushiro! Nezuko is sister goals. She is a beauty yet not a brainless princess. She fights, she protects. Nezuko is the ultimate imotou(sister)! Tanjiro will not accept anyone who speaks ill of his kid sister.
“Muzan Kibutsuji! No matter where you go, you’re not getting away! I’ll follow you to the ends of Hell and I swear I’ll slice your head with my blade! I’ll never forgive you no matter what!”
Muzan Kibutsuji, the ultimate villain crossed paths with Tanjiro in a busy street of Tokyo. The most blood-boiling scene came pretty early in the series. It was not the person Muzan alone who made our skin crawl with anger, but the thought of him living like a human being. The man who destroyed thousands of lives is settling in comfortably amidst his prey is something unforgivable. Thus, Tanjiro swore an oath to pursue him to” the ends of hell” to finish him once and for all.
