The final arc of Naruto: Shippuden introduced the mighty Kaguya Otsutsuki as the final villain of the series. This led to the rise of countless questions about her origin. Boruto: Naruto Next Generation and Boruto: Two Blue Vortex dive deep into the lore of Kaguya Otsutsuki and her clan.
As Boruto: Two Blue Vortex progresses, various characters such as Amado, Kashin Koji and Momoshiki discuss the mysterious origins of Otsutsuki and their abilities. As we all know, Otsutsuki possesses unique & absurd powers like Sukunahikona, teleportation, dimension jumping, etc. Additionally, most of these weird jutsu are in the form of dojutsu.
However, the series gets weirder with the introduction of Eida and Daemon. As cyborgs, their powers, Omnipotence and Reflection, are more God-like and almost unbeatable. This raises the question of how a mortal like Amado could give Godly abilities to his cyborgs.
At this point in the story, we are introduced to Shibai Otsutsuki, the alleged God of the Naruto verse. Shibai is an Otsutsuki who consumed several chakra fruits for eons and has transcended to the level of God. Furthermore, he has ascended to a level where he left his mortal remains on Earth and became one with the universe.
How Strong Is Otsutsuki Shibai? What Are His Powers in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex?
Sometime before the main storyline of Boruto: Naruto Next Generation, Amado got access to the body of Shibai and transferred his DNA to the cyborgs in the hope of awakening Shinjutsu. The awakening of one or many abilities is purely luck.
The absurd powers of Eida, Daemon, Code and other cyborgs are vulgarized versions of Shibai’s powers. Eida, Daemon, and Code awakened them with ease whereas Kashin Koji awakened his after a near-death experience.
Shibai’s jutsus are called Shinjutsu as they are very different from Ninjutsu, Senjutsu and Taijutsu. Shinjutsu translates to Shin: God/Godly, Jutsu: Techniques. Shinjutsu are such high-level jutsu that they are closer to divine miracles than normal jutsu. Let’s take a look at the various Shinjutsu that Shibai possesses:
1. Clairvoyance
Clairvoyance is a shinjutsu in which Shibai can hear and see all the events that have happened in the past like a video. Currently, Eida possesses this ability through her Senreigan and uses it to keep a watch on Konoha leaders for Kawaki. Although Eida can see into the past only up to the time of her birth as a human, fans believe that Shibai can view events from the past much beyond his birth.
2. Black Bands
These are similar to the ability that Code uses to teleport. Code mixes iron from his blood to create the bands which Kawaki uses to shrink the bands to stop him from teleporting. Thus, showing that there is a drawback to this ability. However, it is doubtful that in the hands of Shibai, there would be any such drawback.
3. Nature Manipulation
An unseen ability in any of the cyborgs, Shibai can create storms and lightning with a wave of his hands without having to weave any hand signs as with Ninjutsu. Also, a mere roar from Shibai can create thunderbolts.
4. Omnipotence
The most dangerous ability we know that Shibai possesses. This is the ability which changed Boruto’s fate in the series when Eida uses it to grant Kawaki’s wish. When Shibai uses it, he can alter reality at will and is said to have no drawbacks.
5. Reflection
In his quest to become a God, Shibai spent eons cultivating chakra fruits over several planets and resurrecting himself through Karma. Also, as we all know, Otsutsuki travels in pairs so he might have suffered the same fate as Isshiki and thus created this shinjutsu. This Shinjutsu allows him to reflect all attacks, conscious or unconscious, with the intent to harm or kill him.
It also allows him to control the damage level of the reflected attack. Currently, Daemon possesses this ability however he has shown no feat where he can control it.
6. Foresight or Ten Directions
We are introduced to this ability in chapter 13 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Ten Directions enables the user to see the future. It not only shows the future but also all the possible futures that can happen due to the slightest change. The current cyborg to possess this ability is Kashin Koji.
Koji unlocked this ability after his battle against Jigen and used it to train Boruto. He taught all the possible jutsu Boruto would learn in the future and in alternate timelines. Ten Direction also allows the user to verify which future has been avoided.
This is another dangerous ability that is on par with Yhwach’s Almighty from Bleach. However, we are yet to see whether Shibai can alter timelines at will like Yhwach can.
7. Dojutsu
Shibai possesses a Byakugan in his right eye and a rinnegan on his forehead similar to Kaguya. He also possesses an unknown Dojutsu in his left eye.
Although, there is not much known about Shibai’s backstory, from what we know he is an extremely powerful being and is fit to be the final villain of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. His ascension to Godhood, and control over nature, reality and life itself can pave the path for a more interesting plot to develop.
It is yet to be seen what kind of Shinjutsu Momoshiki possesses that Boruto can use. It better be something that can alter his fate and bring back Naruto and Hinata.
