The Black Clover anime is officially returning to television in October 2026. The announcement was made through the series’ official website, which also confirmed that Ayataka Tanemura will serve as director for the upcoming second season.
Tanemura previously directed episodes 153 through 170 of the original Black Clover anime, as well as the 2023 film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.
A special illustrated message from Tanemura was also shared to commemorate the announcement.

It was also revealed that Tanemura will attend Anime Expo 2026, scheduled to be held from July 2 to July 5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
He will appear at the July 4 panel dedicated to the anime alongside Asta’s voice actor, Gakuto Kajiwara.
The anime originally aired 170 episodes between October 2017 and March 2021 before going on hiatus. In June 2023, the franchise released a film, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.
Tabata launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015 before transferring the series to Jump GIGA in December 2023. The manga ultimately concluded in May 2026.
