Solo Leveling fans have been looking forward to the story of Sung Jin-woo continuing in the anime beyond the second season. There was a general consensus among fans that the anime will move forward with the release of Season 3. But, it has now been confirmed that a new Solo Leveling movie will be releasing instead.
This new information was revealed during Crunchyroll’s panel at Anime Expo on July 3, 2026. The film is titled Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, and it will continue the story from where Season 2 of the anime left off.
Crunchyroll will be co-producing the film, along with Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C Media and Kakao Piccoma.
A new key visual and a concept trailer were released for the movie at Crunchyroll’s panel. A release window, however, has not been revealed.

The new Solo Leveling film is speculated to cover the aftermath of the Jeju Island raid, along with Jin-woo’s return to the Double Dungeon to uncover the truth behind the System and his powers.
While A-1 Pictures is returning to animate the project, Shunsuke Nakashige, the director of the previous seasons, was not among the staff confirmed for the movie.
Instead, Tao Tajima has been confirmed as the director for Solo Leveling: Beyond the System. This is the first time that Tajima will be helming an anime series or a movie. He has previously been in charge of VFX for the Re:cycle of Penguindrum movies and handling the endings for Undead Murder Farce and Sarazanmai.
In addition to directing, Tajima will also take up the roles of director of photography, editor and also the colorist. Tomoko Sudo, meanwhile, is confirmed to be returning as the character designer and key animator.
The first two seasons of the Solo Leveling anime were incredibly popular, and fans have been demanding information about the anime’s sequel for a long time.
Details about the new project, however, were strictly kept under wraps for a long time. The production team, at multiple venues, previously asked fans to patiently look forward to the project, stating that the staff was actively working on the production.
The anime is based on the original South Korean web novel written by Chugong, which began serialization on KakaoPage in July 2016.
A webtoon adaptation featuring illustrations by the late artist DUBU (REDICE Studio) launched in March 2018 and concluded in December 2021. Yen Press publishes both the original novel series and the webtoon adaptation in English.
