Bandai Namco Filmworks announced that it will unveil the next anime project in the long-running Gundam franchise during “GUNDAM Showcase 2026 – Unveil the Next Gundam” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which is scheduled for July 23 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m PT.

The announcement will also be made during a special broadcast on the official Gundam Channel YouTube account on July 24 at 3 a.m. JST.

The worldwide livestream will feature the same announcements presented during the Gundam’s SDCC panel.

In addition to the new anime reveal, the panel will also provide an update on the broader direction of the franchise, including upcoming projects and initiatives planned for both Japan and international markets.

Special guests are expected to appear, and attendees will receive limited-edition novelty bags containing Gundam-themed merchandise while supplies last.

The publisher’s presence at SDCC, which runs from July 23 to 26, will extend beyond the announcement panel.

The event will also feature a dedicated Gundam booth and hands-on workshops as part of the franchise’s exhibition.

The announcement comes as the mecha franchise continues to expand across film and television.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO, which will serve as a prequel to Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM film, is currently in production.

Earlier this year, the franchise released Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe in Japanese theaters, while the television anime Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX aired from April through June 2025.
