Anime Expo’s Witch Hat Atelier panel streamed a new teaser for the second season of the anime on July 3, 2026, revealing what is set to follow in the story.
The teaser showcases an injured Qfirey fending off Romonon’s golden warriors and protecting Coco and Tetia, continuing the fight from the final episode of the anime’s first season.
While glimpses of Iguin and other characters are visible, the teaser ends on a ominous note, showing Coco in a brimmed cap outfit.
Witch Hat Atelier Season 2 was originally announced a few days ago, after the final episode of Season 1 finished airing.
Director Ayumu Watanabe had noted in his message that the world will grow even bigger and deeper in the second season of the anime.
A release date for the second season is yet to be revealed.
The first season of the anime aired for 13 episodes from April to June 2026. The series was originally set to release sometime in 2025, but was delayed to 2026 in order for the production team to maintain the highest possible quality.
Witch Hat Atelier is written and illustrated by Kamome Shirahama. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Morning Two magazine since July 2016, with its chapters collected into 16 tankobon volumes as of April 2026.
Kodansha describes the plot of the manga as:
A beautifully-illustrated story about a girl who longs for magic in her life and learns that, on the inside, she already is what she wishes she could be. Reminiscent of Studio Ghibli, this lushly drawn story was voted one of the Top 10 manga of the year in 2018 by the Japanese manga industry. In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: she wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch … until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem …
