Tokyo Revengers Season 2 Confirmed To Be In Production

The official announcement may come on Dec 18, 2021.

Bunshun Online, a Japanese weekly news magazine, recently published an article, which confirmed the rumors about Tokyo Revengers Season 2 being in production. The article mainly focused on the career and health issues surrounding the voice actor, Tatsuhisa Suzuki after his affair with a female fan came to light.

The official announcement might be made at Tokyo Revengers special event, ~Tokyo Manjikai Tachikawa Touring~, on Dec 18, 2021. All of the main Japanese voice actors will be in attendance, except Suzuki.

Suzuki voices Ken Ryuguji (Draken) in Tokyo Revengers.

The article highlighted how there were doubts whether Suzuki would reprise his role in the second season of the anime. They quoted the message from a Tokyo Revengers anime official to Suzuki’s agency, I’m Enterprise, in which it was mentioned that the production of Season 2 had already begun.

“The second season of the series is currently in production and will be announced later this year. However, we do not know for sure if Suzuki will participate,” the message to Suzuki’s agency said.

Suzuki announced in August that he was taking a break from “all entertainment industry activities” and that he would withdraw from the role of the lead character Anos Voldigoad from The Misfit of Demon King Academy season 2. Yuichiro Umehara will take over the role of Anos.

Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers, has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since March 2017. Liden Films adapted the first season and it aired from April to September 2021.

A live-action film adaptation was also broadcast in Japan in July 2021. As of September 2021, the manga had over 40 million copies in circulation. The manga won the 44th Kodansha Manga Award for the shōnen category in 2020.
