The 24th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine announced on May 11, 2022, that the new one-shot for Negi Haruba‘s The Quintessential Quintuplets would be published in the 25th issue of the magazine on May 18. The new 52-page one-shot is titled “122+1“.
The one-shot will be included in volume 14.5 of the manga, and will be gifted as a bonus to the audience who come to watch the movie, The Quintessential Quintuplets: The Movie, set to release on May 20.
The 25th issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine will be titled, Special Issue on Haruba Negi Works, and will feature his new work, Great Disqualification Sentai.
In addition, The Quintessential Quintuplets voice actresses Kana Hanazawa, Ayana Taketatsu, Miku Ito, Ayane Sakura, and Inori Minase will appear on the cover and top gravure of the magazine.
Negi Haruba’s original manga was previously adapted into two TV seasons, both consisting of 12 episodes.
The anime’s second season premiered on TBS on Jan 7 and finished airing on March 26, 2021.
The new season was originally scheduled to premiere in October 2020 but was delayed due to COVID-19. The anime featured a returning cast.
The manga launched in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in August 2017, and Haruba ended the series in February 2020.
Kodansha licensed the manga in English, and they describe it as:
One day, a poor high school second-year named Futaro Uesugi comes across a private tutoring gig with good pay. But his pupils are his classmates!! And they’re quintuplets!! A-and they’re all gorgeous girls, but they’re also troublemakers who hate to study and are on the verge of flunking out! And his first task is simply gaining the sisters’ trust?! Every day is a party! The curtain is rising on the Nakano quintuplets’ quirky romantic comedy with five times the cute!!
