Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action Series Episode Titles & Synopsis Revealed

August 2023 is a happening month for One Piece fans, as they eagerly await the release of Gear 5 and Netflix’s One Piece live-action series.

As the release date of the Netflix’s One Piece live-action series draw closer, the titles and synopsis for all eight episodes have finally been revealed, putting an end to the speculation on the potential changes that were made in the adaptation.

Episode 1

Title: Romance Dawn

Synopsis:

Monkey D. Luffy, an optimistic young pirate with dreams of finding the One Piece, sets off in search of the loyal crew he needs to navigate the vast oceans. His journey begins when he helps Koby, a deckhand forced into servitude, escape an undesirable situation. While in Shells Town, Luffy meets Roronoa Zoro, a famed pirate hunter, and Nami, a Master thief, and the three form a tenuous alliance.

Episode 2

Title: The Man in the Straw Hat

Synopsis:

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami find themselves imprisoned on an island overtaken by the deranged clown pirate, Buggy. Koby joins the Marines and proves his mettle.

Episode 3

Title: Tell No Tales

Synopsis:

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami land in Syrup Village, where they meet Usopp, a local who introduced the group to Kaya, a sickly shipyard heiress under the care of trio of overbearing house staff. With the help of Koby, Vice Admiral Garp, a powerful marine, sets off in search of Luffy.

Episode 4

Title: The Pirates Are Coming

Synopsis:

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami fight their way through Kaya’s mansion, which has now become a prison. Usopp enlists the help of Koby, Helmeppo and the Marines. Luffy finally gets the ship of his dreams as Garp closes in.

Episode 5

Title: Eat at Baratie!

Synopsis:

Luffy and the gang are tested in their ability to fight together on the high seas. They arrive at Baratie, a floating restaurant, where they encounter Sanji, a young chef with a love of fine dining. A duel on the docks shocks the group.

Episode 6

Title: The Chef and the Chore Boy

Synopsis:

The group is ambushed by a threat no one sees coming. After a hard-fought battle at Baratie, Sanji finally follows his dreams, while another crew member shows their true colors.

Episode 7

Title: The Girl with the Sawfish Tattoo

Synopsis:

The crew comes to the aid of a member in dire need of family.

Episode 8

Title: Worst in the East

Synopsis:

A new pirate crew is born.

 One Piece live-action will release on Aug 31, 2023, exclusively on Netflix.

The One Piece live-action cast includes Iñaki Godoy, who portrays Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar will play Sanji. Colton Osorio will portray a young Luffy.

Furthermore, Peter Gadiot will play Shanks, Morgan Davies as Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino as Alvida, Aidan Scott as Helmeppo, Jeff Ward as Buggy, McKinley Belcher III as Arlong, and Vincent Regan as Garp.

The other cast members include:

  • Alexander Maniatis as Klahadore
  • Steven Ward as Mihawk
  • Craig Fairbrass as Chef Zeff
  • Langley Kirkwood as Captain Morgan
  • Celeste Loots as Kaya
  • Chioma Umeala as Nojiko

The live-action will be adapting the East-Blue Saga from the One Piece manga and then “broaden from there”. Matt Owens will serve as the upcoming show’s writer, while Steven Maeda and Becky Clements will be executive producers along with Eiichiro Oda.

Netflix will exclusively stream the series, produced by Tomorrow Studios, a partnership between producer Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios.

Eiichiro Oda had previously stated that the live-action series won’t be launched until he was satisfied.

It was previously revealed that the live-action adaptation won’t be a carbon copy of the original work.

The live action adaptation was under production in South Africa since Feb 1, 2022.

One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump since July 1997, with its individual chapters compiled into 105 tankobon volumes as of March 2023.
