While the Chainsaw Man Panel by MAPPA and Crunchyroll at Anime Expo 2022 did not reveal a new trailer or key visual for the anime, much to the fans’ dismay, some interesting information was indeed presented during its course.
The production team of Chainsaw Man anime were answering questions asked by fans at the panel presentation and the topic of MAPPA CEO Manabu Otsuka and his love for Chainsaw Man popped up.
When a fan asked about how MAPPA’s approach was to the anime, it came to light that Otsuka is a huge fan of the manga. The CEO wanted to ensure that the quality of Chainsaw Man anime was good enough to be enjoyed well by him as well as the fans.
After discussing the nitty-gritties, including the how the content from the manga will be handled, one fan brought up the topic of favorite characters of the staff.
It was revealed then that Otsuka’s favorite Chainsaw Man character is Power. The producer on the other hand chose Denji as his favorite, as he could relate to the character’s needs.
Otsuka, who was present at the panel, also shared that he was surprised at how well the first PV of Chainsaw Man was received by the fans and that he felt nice when he saw it.
The teaser video for the anime was revealed at Jump Festa 22, which stated that the anime will release sometime in 2022. However, no further information about the anime, which is currently under works, has been made available to fans since then.
The staff added that more info about the Chainsaw Man anime will be revealed at the Crunchyroll Expo in August 2022. Otsuka said that he really wanted to give fans some information about the anime in the panel, but he wanted everything to be perfect before he revealed it to the fans.
The Chainsaw Man panel was held at the expo on July 4, 2022.
Crunchyroll had revealed earlier that they will be streaming the Chainsaw Man anime in over 200 countries and territories across the globe, except Asia, while Media Link, which run Ani-One YouTube channel, brought the rights to stream the anime in Asia, including China.
