You Chiba, creator of the Kindergarten Wars manga, announced on X that the manga will be going on a two month hiatus due to her poor health.
The decision follows the release of Chapter 102, published in Japan on Jan 30, 2025 (Jan 29 U.S. time). She apologized to readers who have been looking forward to the series and noted that her health concerns prompted the pause.
Health Struggles and Hiatus Announcement
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Chiba revealed she has battled back pain since late 2024, impacting her ability to meet weekly deadlines.

As a result, I have decided to take a longer break this time.
I sincerely apologize to all the readers who have been looking forward to the series…
In November, Chiba also began work on a six-chapter spinoff manga for Kindergarten Wars focusing on the character Luke—a project totaling 180 pages. Three chapters of that spinoff have been released, potentially adding to the author’s workload in recent months.
Kindergarten Wars manga will return after a 8-week hiatus on March 27, 2025.
Manga to enter final arc:
In her message, the author also mentioned that Kindergarten Wars manga will enter its final arc upon resumption. The final arc is titled the America Chapter.
I plan to return in eight weeks, on March 27!

Despite the looming end of the series, the author promised that there is still a lot more to come, and asked fans to watch over the “long final battle”.

Kindergarten Wars began serialization on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app and website in September 2022. Its chapters have been collected in 13 tankōbon volumes as of January 2025.
The plot follows Rita, a former legendary hitman who works at a kindergarten attended by the children of the world’s most powerful figures.
Kindergarten Wars earned a place in the top 10 of the Manga We Want to See Animated Ranking, at AnimeJapan 2024. It also ranked 3rd in the 2023 Tsugi Manga Awards’ Web Manga category and placed 8th in the 7th TSUTAYA Comic Awards.
