The official X account for the manga series Kagurabachi announced on June 17, 2026, that author Takeru Hokazono’s work will enter a temporary hiatus.
The hiatus will begin with Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 31, which is scheduled to go on sale on June 29 in Japan, and is scheduled to resume sometime in August 2026, though a specific date has not yet been finalized.
According to the official statement, this decision for Kagurabachi to enter a hiatus follows discussions between the editorial staff and Hokazono.
While the author expressed a desire to continue working without interruption, the editorial department opted for a planned break to ensure the long-term stability of the series.
The manga had recently skipped issues and gone on a break due to Hokazono’s health issues.

To our readers,
Thank you for your continued support and for reading Kagurabachi.
Starting with Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 31, which goes on sale Monday, June 29th, Kagurabachi will be going on hiatus.
Hokazono-sensei expressed his desire to continue drawing, but after careful discussion, we have decided to have him take a break for a certain period of time in order to ensure the series can be delivered to you in a stable manner moving forward.
The serialization is scheduled to resume around August.
We kindly ask for your continued support of Kagurabachi.
Weekly Shonen Jump Editorial Department
Weekly Shonen Jump has come under heavy criticism, when it comes to the demanding schedules imposed on manga artists, which frequently lead to severe health issues and forced long-term absences.
In this instance though, the editorial department has proactively prioritized Hokazono’s health, and it bodes well for the sustainability of the franchise moving forward.
Kagurabachi remains one of Shueisha’s hottest titles being serialized right now. The manga, which began publishing in 2023, has over 4 million copies in circulation as of April 2026.
The manga is also getting an anime adaptation by Cypic, which will release in April 2027. Before the official release, a world tour for the anime has been planned with the first 20 minutes of the anime’s first episode being screened across major anime conventions globally.
