Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki’s Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo, the spin-off sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen manga, has concluded its run in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on March 8, 2026.
The manga, which began serialization in September 2025, ran for approximately half a year and published 25 chapters.
The story of Modulo is set 68 years into the future after the climactic Shinjuku Showdown, as an alien race called Simurians have landed on Earth seeking a place to stay. As a part of their efforts to scout the planet and assess it, the Simurians send one of their members, Marulu, to team up with Jujutsu Sorcerers Yuka Okkotsu and Tsurugi Okkotsu. At the same time, the Jujutsu Society and Japan too are testing to see if co-existing with aliens is a possibility.
The manga’s chapters have been compiled into two volumes till now. Details about the third compiled volume has not been released. Viz Media is releasing the chapters in English in North America and other regions.
Yuji Iwasaki, the artist of the series, said that he had burnt through all his fuel and that he will return once again after regaining his strength.
“All I could do was hang on as I burned through all my fuel over the past six months. I’ll gain strength and return again!“
Meanwhile, fellow authors including Yuto Suzuki, Takeru Hokazono, Osamu Nishi and others congratulated both Akutami and Iwasaki on their successful serialization, adding that they were looking forward to the next work in the series.
To commemorate the chapter’s ending, a limited edition acrylic set with illustrations printed on both sides has been announced. There will be two sets, one of Gojo and Mahoraga, and the other featuring Sukuna and Dabura (from Modulo).
Akutami had previously revealed that he had declined offers to work on a spin-off series for Jujutsu Kaisen due to the worry that it might span out in a way that he couldn’t control. However, with Modulo, the author felt that he had opportunity to delve more into the setting of the story and expand it in a way that he liked, which eventually led him to accept the offer.
Written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on March 05, 2018. The narrative, centering on high school student Yuji Itadori and his involvement with the society of Jujutsu Sorcerers, ran for approximately six and a half years.
The series concluded its run on Sep 30, 2024 with chapter 271 and has over 150 million copies in circulation.
The manga was collected into 30 tankobon volumes in Japan. The final volume, Volume 30, was released domestically on Dec 25, 2024.
