Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie Exceeds 10 Billion Yen In 45 Days

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film dethroned Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time to become the #1 highest-earning film at the Japanese box office from 2021.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 announced on Monday, Feb 7, 2022, that the Japanese box office revenue of the movie exceeded the 10 billion yen mark on the 43rd day on Friday. The film has sold 7,603,732 tickets for 10,456,322,400 yen (about US$90.6 million) after 45 days since its release on Dec 24, 2022.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film dethroned Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, which earned 10.28 billion yen, to become the #1 highest-earning film at the Japanese box office from 2021.

It has surpassed such films as The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, Toy Story 4, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest to become the 34th highest-grossing film in Japanese box office history.

In its first three days, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 earned 2,694,128,150 yen (about US$23.5 million) and topped the box office list for the weekend.

There are also IMAX screenings of the film. On March 18, the film will be released in the United States and Canada with English subtitles and an English dub.

Toho, predicted at the stage greeting on the first day of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 that it was certain that the revenue would exceed 10 billion yen and that “the final result will be unpredictable.”
