The eighth volume of Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits‘, Insomniacs After School (Kimi wa Hōkago Insomnia), announced on Jan 12, 2022, that an anime adaptation and a live-action adaptation of the seinen manga is in production.
Creator Makoto Ojiro published an original illustration to commemorate the release of the 8th volume.
The manga had inspired a “special animation promotional video” to commemorate the seventh manga volume’s release in October 2021.
In 2019, the rock band Macaroni Enpitsu collaborated with Makoto Ojiro to create a music video for their song “Enshin” (Centrifuge), featuring art from Insomniacs After School manga.
Ojiro launched the manga in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits magazine in May 2019. Shogakukan is planning to publish the ninth volume this spring.
The manga focuses on two insomniac schoolmates, a boy named Ganta and a girl named Isaki. Both worry about their constant lack of sleep. After a chance meeting in the school’s observatory-turned-storage room, the two share secrets and begin having an unusual connection.
