The official X account of Yasuki Tanaka’s Summertime Rendering manga revealed that the series’ live-action adaptation will be released as a theatrical film in 2027.
Ken Ninomiya (Chiwawa, The Limit Of Sleeping Beauty) will be directing the film.
The announcement coincided with July 22, the date on which the story begins.
“The Summertime Rendering live-action film has been announced for release in 2027! Ken Ninomiya will direct the film. We’ll continue to share more details here on X. We’re thrilled to finally make this announcement on July 22, the day the story begins. Please look forward to it,” the official account stated.
The live-action adaptation was first announced in February 2021 alongside the manga’s 139th and final chapter, though no format or release window was disclosed at the time.
No additional staff, cast, or release details have been announced yet.
Summertime Rendering was serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service from October 2017 to February 2021.
The manga follows Shinpei Ajiro, who returns to his hometown on the island of Hitogashima after the death of his childhood friend Ushio Kofune. As he investigates the circumstances surrounding her death, he becomes caught in a time loop while uncovering the island’s hidden mysteries and long-standing secrets.
A 25-episode anime adaptation, produced by OLM, premiered in April 2022 and concluded in September of the same year.
