The third season of One Piece‘s live action adaptation is set to arrive sooner than expected, with Netflix revealing that the upcoming instalment will release in 2027.
The third season of One Piece live-action is titled The Battle of Alabasta, and will cover the Alabasta arc from Eiichiro Oda’s manga. It will continue the story from the second season, where Luffy and his crew set sail to the desert-kingdom, after promising Princess Vivi that they will help her save it.
A new trailer was revealed to commemorate the announcement.
Season three secured an early renewal in August last year, with the filming and production underway at least since November 2025.
The cast from Season 2 will be returning, with Joe Manganiello (Crocodile), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefertari Cobra) all upped to series regulars. The returning cast will be joined by Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace and Cole Escola as Bon Clay.
One Piece live-action Season 2 released in March 2026, after a gap of almost three years. While there was a lengthy delay, the shoot for the season was wrapped in eight months.
The second season debuted at number, recording 16.8 million views and amassed 136.2 million hours on Netflix in its opening week.
It adapted five consecutive story arcs from Eiichiro Oda’s original source material – Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island – detailing the crew’s encounters with the Marine officer Smoker and the bounty hunter syndicate Baroque Works, alongside their recruitment of the reindeer doctor Tony Tony Chopper.
