Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon magazine announced in their March issue that Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka’s comedy manga Grand Blue will be going on a break due to the poor health condition of one of the creators.
The return date for the manga has not been revealed yet, hence pushing the release of chapter 83 indefinitely.
The manga had previously gone on a hiatus for two months in January 2021 due to Yoshioka’s back pain.
Grand Blue is a Japanese manga series written by Kenji Inoue and illustrated by Kimitake Yoshioka. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s seinen manga magazine good! Afternoon since April 2014.
As of August 2022, nineteen volumes have been released. The manga is published digitally in English by Kodansha USA under the Kodansha Comics imprint.
An anime television series adaptation by Zero-G aired from July to September 2018 in the Animeism programming block on MBS. A live-action film adaptation was released in August 2020.
MAL describes the plot of the manga as:
Among the seaside town of Izu’s ocean waves and rays of shining sun, Iori Kitahara is just beginning his freshman year at Izu University. As he moves into his uncle’s scuba diving shop, Grand Blue, he eagerly anticipates his dream college life, filled with beautiful girls and good friends.
But things don’t exactly go according to plan. Upon entering the shop, he encounters a group of rowdy, naked upperclassmen, who immediately coerce him into participating in their alcoholic activities. Though unwilling at first, Iori quickly gives in and becomes the heart and soul of the party. Unfortunately, this earns him the scorn of his cousin, Chisa Kotegawa, who walks in at precisely the wrong time. Undeterred, Iori still vows to realize his ideal college life, but will things go according to plan this time, or will his situation take yet another dive?
