The film releases in Japan on January 8 2021. This film is said to be final movie/anime for Gintama, for real, this time. It is based on the finale of the manga of the series with few new story elements introducing in the movie.
The manga finale is also coming out as a new anime series which will ultimately tie in to the movies ending. The new anime series is premiering in Japan on January 15, 2021. The film will also have a novel by Mirei Miyamoto that will ship on January 8.
Hideaki Sorachi’s original manga began serializing in 2003. And ended in June 2019 with over 55 million copies sold. The manga also received television anime series with multiple seasons as well as two previous anime films. The last anime season aired in July 2018. Crunchyrolls streams all the season of the anime with English subtitles. In addition, it has also various OVA episodes, event anime, two live action movies, and two live action spin off series. Viz media publishes the English version of the manga and serialized them for the first 23 volumes.
The series is critically acclaimed by both critics and fans alike as one of the best anime series of all time. The parodies and the gags of other anime series especially those of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball Z brought the series to viewers notice.
