In the latest chapter of My Hero Academia, our heroes are facing a threat so big that none of them was prepared for it. Shigaraki Tomura has finally awakened and with him he brought a wave of destruction, decay and catastrophe. His enhanced powers are so vast that his quirk “Decay” is now limitless and totally under his control. Not to mention he is in possession of All For One at this time. Just his decay wave was so vast and powerful that anyone and everyone caught in it literally became dust. Combined with the powers of All For One,.Shigaraki is on an entirely different level.

In the wake of this mass destruction and heroes like X Less and Shield Hero Crust laying down their lives, Endeavor swoops in to fight the transcendent Shigaraki head on. The scene itself was rousing as the number one hero, without any fear for his life decides to take on a villain who must be stopped at all costs.

Is Endeavor going to die in My Hero Academia?

Since he became the number one hero, Endeavor’s character arc has gone through a tremendous change. He shone bright when darkness began creeping into the society following All Might’s retirement. While he was nowhere close to All Might, Endeavor gave his all to the job at hand, all the while trying to make up for the past mistakes he made, especially towards his family.

But then, fans of shonen tropes have pointed out that this change in Endeavor’s character, combined with the fact that he is swooping in to fight a horrendous villain with bleak chances of success, raises serious death flags. 

To fight with a being like Shigaraki, whose own quirk is so devastating and has the ability to steal quirks at will is going to be a mammoth task for other heroes (One For All is the only quirk that cannot be stolen and has to be passed down willingly). Not to forget that Shigaraki also controls the monstrous power house Gigantomachia. 

Even so, Endeavor has jumped in the battle against Shigaraki and it will no doubt be an epic showdown between the two.

Now, if we assume that Endeavor does end up dying in this fight, how will it affect the plot of My Hero Academia.

How does Endeavor’s death affect the plot?

According to us Endeavor will bravely lay down his life in his fight against Shigaraki, but not before he manages to injure his opponent critically. Remember how Shigaraki is only 75% complete. This incomplete procedure might hinder him somehow and will help Endeavor land a critical blow on him (but in the process he will have to sacrifice his life too). With Endeavor losing the fight and Gigantomachia and the other villains going on a rampage, there is a possibility that the villains will win the battle against the pro heroes, with some or whole of the human society in Japan coming under their control.

Considering this scenario, Deku won’t face off with Shigaraki after all. That’s a boss fight which will be saved for the end. And with Shigaraki critically injured, there won’t be a mass wipeout of the heroes yet. The surviving heroes, including the students from U.A and other schools might go underground and form some sort of a resistance. This looks plausible, considering that the current saga of the manga is named “Rise of the Villains”

The death of the number one hero will plummet the younger heroes including Deku, Bakugou and Todoroki into taking up more prominent roles within the now crumbled hero society.

Such an arc would also expose the deep rooted corruption which is present in the governing body of heroes and also address the question of the spy inside the U.A academy. In the end, the new heroes will build a much better world (very shonen like) as they train and grow in power, eventually taking out the major villain, Shigaraki, this time with Deku having learnt to control One For All completely. 

But then, we are talking as if Endeavor’s death is confirmed. Considering that he has a huge fanbase, and that he has been getting plenty of attention recently, Kohei Horikoshi won’t just let him get scraped off from the series. 

In that case the following thing might happen:

Endeavor gets his quirk stolen:

In this scenario too Endeavor will end up getting defeated because there is no way he can single handedly defeat Shigaraki, who no longer needs to be in contact for his decay quirk to work, and the monster Gigantomachia. Even if other heroes tried to assist him in the battle they wouldn’t be able to do so as they will be having their hands busy with Toga, Dabi and Capsule guy. Especially Toga whose quirk evolved mid battle and now she can copy anybody’s quirk whoever’s blood she drinks and she’s pissed at all the heroes after Twice’s death. But then, we believe that Shigaraki might let Endeavour live after stealing his quirk to break the morale and strike fear into the hearts of other heroes. Also, Hellflame is a very powerful quirk, something which a shrewd person like Shigaraki won’t let slide by so easily. 

This could prove a chance for Endeavour to analyse his past mistake and make up with his family and also learn more about himself. 

This could be the possible endings of Endeavour which we speculate. Whether he gets his powers back or not depends on Deku and his final fight or Eri learning to control her powers. The former would bring world peace sooner and the latter can bring more twists in this amazing story.
