Publisher VIZ Media announced earlier this month that Tite Kubo‘s Bleach manga and Kohei Horikoshi‘s My Hero Academia manga will receive special editions later this year.
Bleach is celebrating its 20th year of serialization, and Viz Media is re-releasing a limited edition copy of Volume 1 to commemorate the occasion. The special edition with exclusive new cover art will be released on August 2 in Japan.
In August 2021, Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine published a new 73-page chapter of Bleach.
On October 18, VIZ will also release a 20-volume box set of the My Hero Academia manga series. A 48-page booklet with supplementary illustrations and a double-sided poster will be included in the release.
Furthermore, Variety reported on Apr 6 that Kubo’s manga has 2.7 million copies in print in the United States while My Hero Academia manga has over 10 million copies in print with its first volume having crossed 1.2 million copies in the States.
Coming fall anime season, My Hero Academia’s sixth season will premiere. Likewise, Bleach will have an anime adaptation that covers the “Thousand Year Blood War” arc, the final arc of the manga, that comprises volumes 55-74, set to release in October.
