Toho Co., Ltd. revealed plans to enter a full-scale mass production phase for its anime business, aiming to deliver up to 30 cours per year by 2032, according to its financial results briefing materials for the fiscal year ending February 2026.
To support its increased output, Toho is reinforcing its production infrastructure by strengthening internal studios such as TOHO animation studio and Science SARU, while also expanding external partnerships, including investment in Studio Orange.
Toho expects its anime output to reach approximately 20 cours annually by the fiscal year ending February 2029, before increasing to 30 cours per year by 2032. The expansion will be supported by a steady accumulation of both sequel projects and new titles.
Under the TOHO animation brand, Toho outlined an extensive slate of upcoming works. These include continuations of major series such as The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 and its theatrical film, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3 (Golden Land Arc), and a new Haikyu!! film. while further developments are planned for titles like Mushoku Tensei and Dr. STONE.

Toho also highlighted the growing role of Science SARU within its production framework. The studio is involved in high-profile titles such as Ghost in the Shell (July 2026) and Dandadan Season 3 (2027), alongside new projects like A Witch’s Life in Mongol (July 2026).
The company indicated that Science SARU is evolving from a creator-driven studio into a key production hub capable of handling major IP.
Toho attributed its growing anime pipeline to its ability to secure strong source material, supported by its integrated structure covering production, distribution, and marketing.
The company noted that successful adaptations such as The Apothecary Diaries and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End have strengthened trust among publishers and creators, aiding early acquisition of promising works and sustained IP development.
