The official website for the Sakamoto Days live-action film has announced that the movie will premiere on April 29, 2026. This was accompanied by an action-packed trailer featuring Snow Man’s Ren Meguro portraying the dual versions of Taro Sakamoto.
In addition to Meguro, the trailer also highlights Fumiya Takahashi as Shin Asakura, Aya Ueto as Aoi Sakamoto, and Hana Sakamoto, who is played by Miyu Yoshimoto.
Yuichi Fukuda, known for the Gintama live-action films and Under Ninja, is directing and writing the screenplay. Keiya Tabuchi, whose work includes Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, the live-action Attack on Titan films and Kamen Rider Amazons, serves as action director. The film is produced by CREDEUS with Avex Pictures.
Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in November 2020 and has since released 23 tankobon volumes. As of August 2025, the series has surpassed 15 million copies in circulation worldwide, including digital sales.
An anime adaptation, directed by Masaki Watanabe, scripted by Taku Kishimoto and produced by TMS Entertainment, aired across two split cours in 2025. The season’s first half ran from January 11 to March 22, while the second premiered on July 15.
Season 1 ranked as the top standalone anime season worldwide for the first half of 2025, achieving 24.4 million views and 106.4 million hours watched.
