Yuto Suzuki’s manga Sakamoto Days will receive a live-action film adaptation, with Toho confirming a Golden Week 2026 theatrical release. The announcement also revealed the first visual of the former hitman-turned-family man Taro Sakamoto in live action.

Author Yuto Suzuki expressed his excitement over the project, saying he had long imagined how the series’ chaotic action would look in a real-world setting. He added that the adaptation is backed by a talented production team and expressed confidence that fans will enjoy the final product.
“Sakamoto Days is getting a live-action film! Ever since I was a kid, I’ve imagined what it would be like if someone went wild like this in the real world. Now it’s finally coming true on the big screen! I’m super excited! This is all thanks to the readers who have been supporting me every day—truly, thank you so much! The manga has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since November 2020 and has published 23 tankobon volumes to date. As of August 2025, it has surpassed 15 million copies in circulation worldwide, including digital sales.
The anime adaptation, directed by Masaki Watanabe with scripts by Taku Kishimoto, character designs by Yo Moriyama, and music composed by Yuki Hayashi, has also achieved global success.
Running in two split cours, the first aired from Jan 11 to March 22, 2025, and the second premiered on July 15, 2025. Sakamoto Days season 1 ranked as the top standalone anime season worldwide for the first half of 2025, accumulating 24.4 million views and 106.4 million hours watched
