The One Piece Film Red movie has earned 11.454 billion yen at the Japanese box office. Thus surpassing 2021’s Neon Genesis Evangelion’s 3.0 +1.0 movie. It also became the 10 highest earning anime film in Japan after it crossed Eva‘s earnings.

One Piece Film: Red  has become the 10th highest-grossing anime film in Japan as well as the 29th film overall in the country. It is also the second fastest film to reach 11 billion yen only lagging behind Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train.

It sold approximately 832,000 tickets and has earned 1.209 million yen during the weekend of Aug 27 and Aug 28, surpassing previous weeks numbers.

The One Piece Film Red movie is still behind Top Gun Maverick (11.81 billion yen) of Tom Cruise and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (13.75 billion yen) movies to reach the #1 spot as the highest earning movie at Japanese Box Office of 2022. The box office is calculated from December to November, incase you were wondering since JJK0 released in December last year.

The movie will be released in United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand globally by Crunchyroll during upcoming fall season.

PVR Cinemas announced on Aug 26 that they will release the movie in Indian theatres on October 7, 2022.

On Aug 11, PVR cinemas placed standees across multiple theatres in Mumbai revealing that One Piece Film Red will release in India in October 2022.

Goro Taniguchi returns to the franchise for the first time since 1998 to direct One Piece Film: Red. Tsutomu Kuroiwa will be in charge of the screenplay. TOEI Animation is animating the film with original author Eiichiro Oda serving as executive producer.

The movie features and centers on the mysterious character Uta, who is teased to be Shanks daughter in the teaser. Uta is voiced by Kaori Nazuka (voice cast) and Ado (singing cast).
