One Piece Film Red Causes Toei’s Annual Box Office Collection To Reach An All Time High

The box-office revenue of One Piece Film Red has exceeded 15.7 billion yen as of September 30, 2022. Which is about 70% of Toei's total box-office revenue for the year.

Toei’s movie distribution wing has set a major record post release of One Piece Film Red. The company announced that the annual box office earning from January 1, 2022 to September 30, 2022 was 22,046,453,934 yen.

This is the highest ever earning from the period of Jan-Sept for Toei. In addition, it is also the highest ever annual box office earning for Toei as of end of September. The previous record was 17,980,254,340 yen in 2009, 13 years ago.

This was achieved when One Piece Film Strong World was released.

Toei’s earnings are predicted to skyrocket more after the release of The First Slam Dunk movie.

The movie although ranks the 11th highest earning movie in Japan it is only behind 5 anime movies in claiming the number 1 anime movie spot.

The movie opened in Japan on Aug 6, 2022, collecting over 2 billion yen in its first weekend.

PVR Cinemas announced on Aug 26 that they will release the movie in Indian theatres on October 7, 2022.

On Aug 11, PVR cinemas placed standees across multiple theatres in Mumbai revealing that One Piece Film Red will release in India in October 2022.

Crunchyroll has announced on their official website on Sep 12, 2022, that they will be bringing One Piece Red Film to theatres in U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand this November.

Goro Taniguchi returns to the franchise for the first time since 1998 to direct One Piece Film: Red. Tsutomu Kuroiwa will be in charge of the screenplay. TOEI Animation is animating the film with original author Eiichiro Oda serving as executive producer.
