One Piece Becomes 4th Most Searched TV Show Globally In 2023; But Not In Japan

Google revealed their Year In Search report for the year 2023, showcasing what trended throughout the year 2023 on the search engine platform across various genres.

According to the report, One Piece was the fourth most searched TV Show in 2023 globally, coming in behind The Last of Us, Wednesday and Ginny & Georgia. It is the only anime to make it to the global trends list.

The interest in One Piece spiked the most between Sep 3-9, 2023, which corresponded with the release of chapter 1091 of the manga and episode 1074 of the anime (“I Trust Momo – Luffy’s Final Powerful Technique”).

The top 5 regions that searched for One Piece most included Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, France and Nepal.

Here’s the top 10 most searched TV Shows globally in 2023:

  2. Wednesday
  3. Ginny & Georgia
  4. One Piece
  5. Kaleidoscope
  6. King the Land
  7. The Glory
  8. That ’90s Show

However, surprisingly, One Piece did not come in the top 10, when it came to the search trends of Japan in the year 2023. The anime which came out on top in Japan was Oshi No Ko. The latter had topped the list for the most searched anime in Japan in 2023 released by Yahoo too.

One Piece was not the anime genre’s only hurrah in the 2023 Year in Search report, as YOASOBI’s Idol became the most searched song of 2023. It was also Japan’s most played song on Spotify in 2023.
