Crunchyroll’s Ani-May celebration brought anime fans from across Mumbai together for an evening dedicated to the community and the stories they love.

With music, games, fan activities, photo opportunities, and a high-energy DJ set by longtime anime fan Maxxedro, fans came together to celebrate their shared passion for anime. The evening was filled with excitement, laughter, and unforgettable fan moments, showcasing the incredible energy of India’s anime community and making Ani-May a celebration to remember.
Crunchyoll described Ani-May as an anime party where everyone was invited! It was a month-long, worldwide celebration filled with experiences across screens, games, and real-world moments. It gave fans everywhere more ways to come together, celebrate, and show all the ways they love and live anime.
As part of the celebrations in India, fans were allowed to step into Crunchyroll’s biggest-ever booth at Mumbai Comic Con, which featured special appearances by Taito Ban, the voice of Sung Jinwoo, and producer Atsushi Kaneko from Solo Leveling, along with a live performance by Hiroshi Kitadani, known for the iconic ONE PIECE anthem “We Are!”.
Additionally, a live dubbing booth, immersive fan experiences, and exclusive merchandise were kept at Mumbai Comic Con 2026. Extending the celebration online, Crunchyroll India also shed spotlight on voices from the local anime community through creator-led social storytelling throughout Ani-May.
It transformed May into an inescapable cultural moment where fans everywhere could discover new series, unlock rewards, and connect with the community like never before.
“Anime is something we celebrate every day, but Ani-May is our chance to deepen that connection with fans even further. It’s a moment to come together, revisit old favourites, discover something new, and shop, play, and watch in ways that feel meaningful,” said Gita Rebbapragada, Chief Operating Officer, Crunchyroll.
“Throughout the month, we’re creating new ways to engage and celebrate as a community, all leading up to the Anime Awards, where we honor the creators behind the stories that inspire audiences around the world. It’s been incredible to see how many partners around the world are leaning into Ani-May and wanting to celebrate anime alongside us,” said Scott Donaton, SVP, Global Brand and Community, Crunchyroll. “They recognize anime as a powerful cultural connector, and together we’re creating moments that bring fans and communities closer across every touchpoint.”
The Ani-May celebration kicked off with Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc streaming exclusively on Crunchyroll since April 30. Ahead of the celebration, fans could also tune into a special Ani-May Instagram livestream, where host Tim Lyu and guest actor Adam McArthur (JUJUTSU KAISEN) give fans a first look at everything the month had in store.
And for the first time, Ani-May introduced a lineup of ambassadors, including REI AMI, Big Sean, Noah Lyles, and more, who joined Crunchyroll’s beloved character Hime to bring the celebration to life through cosplay, curated Spotify playlists, dubbing moments, and exclusive anime-inspired content.
