Mangasee, a popular manga piracy website, has announced it will cease operations on Jan 10, 2025, alongside its affiliate site Manga Life.

The site, which has hosted unauthorized scans of manga for years, is not shutting down entirely but is instead shifting to a new address on the web.

The new platform, Weeb Central, will replace both Mangasee and Manga Life. The announcement has been featured on both of Mangasee’s website for some time.

Contrary to beliefs that the site might be migrating due to piracy concerns, the actual reason seems to be related to the site’s performance.

“Both Mangasee and Manga Life code are so [poorly written] that it was impossible to improve upon. That’s why I figured to just create a completely new site from scratch.”

Despite the official explanation, some users speculate that the rebranding may be an attempt to avoid legal scrutiny amid increasing crackdowns on piracy websites.

The recent years have seen heightened efforts by copyright holders and international coalitions to tackle unauthorized distribution of manga and anime content.
