The upcoming Kagurabachi anime has revealed the voice cast and character trailer for Kunishige Rokuhira, the father of protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira.
Veteran voice actor Tomokazu Seki will portray the legendary swordsmith.
According to the character profile released by the anime staff, Kunishige watched over Chihiro during his childhood while establishing himself as a swordsmith of unmatched skill.
He is described as the only person capable of forging Enchanted Blades, which are katana possessing extraordinary power. His weapons were instrumental in ending the Seitei War, earning him legendary status throughout the world of Kagurabachi.
Speaking about the role, Seki described Kunishige as both a legendary craftsman and a caring father. He said he approached the character with the goal of naturally expressing both sides of his personality.
The actor added that he hopes viewers will be able to appreciate the character’s humorous everyday demeanor as well as the conviction he demonstrates when discussing his craft.
Seki also commented on joining the adaptation, saying he was thrilled to be cast as such a significant character. He noted that Kagurabachi has built a passionate fanbase and expressed his desire to faithfully bring the manga’s emotions and intensity to the screen.
Kagurabachi is being adapted by Cypic (previously CygamesPictures) with Tetsuya Takeuchi helming the series and Keigo Sasaki handling the character designs.
The anime will release in April 2027.
Created by Takeru Hokazono, Kagurabachi began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023 and quickly emerged as one of the magazine’s most talked-about new titles. The manga currently has over 4 million copies in circulation.
