Ichiraku Ramen From Naruto Is Inspired From A Real Shop That Kishimoto Visited

Ichiraku Ramen has consistenly managed to make fans salivate with its depictions of delicious ramen in the whole of Naruto series. However, you’ll be surprised to know that Masashi Kishimoto has taken inspiration from a real life shop in Japan for this iconic ramen shop which is hidden in Konohagakure.

Ichiraku Ramen is a real ramen restaurant in Fukuoka, which is situated on the Japanese island of Kyushu. And how did Kishimoto know about this place? Well, Kishimoto graduated from the Kyushu Sangyou Daigaku university, which is located near to this ramen shop.

The author told Sora news once that he commuted to Kyuu dai-mae, a station in the Fukuoka City that was close to his university, during his school days. He drew a lot of inspiration from the area while creating Naruto. He used to eat at the Ramen Ichiraku shop located near to this station during his commutes. However, this original Ramen Ichiraku shop which Kishimoto frequented unfortunately closed down in 2014.

However, the restaurant has other branches in Fukuoka, including one in the downtown Hakata area. They now sell handkerchiefs emblazoned with various Naruto characters that come in noodle cups labelled “Ichiraku Ramen”, along with their diverse menu of Ramen, including Naruto’s favourite Miso flavoured ones.

Originally created by Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto, ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump for 700 chapters. The story follows Naruto, a young ninja who became an outcast due to the demon fox sealed in his body. Despite this, he aspires to become his village’s Hokage, or the leader.

Ichiraku Ramen is still a go to ramen shop for the ninjas of Konohagakure in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, even though it got a makeover of sorts!
