Oricon, a music information provider reported on September 9 that Eichiro Oda’s One Piece Volume 100 has sold over 1.17 million copies since its Sept. 3 release making it the first manga series in history to have 100 volumes with each one having over a million cumulative copies.
Without a doubt, it ranked at the top of the weekly manga sales report of Oricon’s weekly single-volume manga sales, which immediately needed to be reprinted following the huge demand.
Additionally, Oricon also reported that the ONE PIECE Magazine Volume 12 sold 42.000 copies during its first week on sale.
Taking a look at this week’s manga sales, the rankings are as follows:
- One Piece Volume 100
- Kaiju No. 8 Volume 4
- Ao Ashi Volume 25
- Look Back
- Natsume’s Book of Friends Volume 27
- Ao Ashi Brother Foot Volume 1
- Boruto Volume 15
- Futo Detectives Volume 11
- One Piece Volume 99
- Kujo’s Great Sin Volume 3
One Piece Volume 100 sold over 3 times more than the 2nd rank Kaiju No. 8, which sold about 332,401 copies.
Since volume 50, the series has topped Oricon’s weekly ranking every time a new volume came out for 14 consecutive years since 2008, making it the first series to take the title of “Oricon Weekly Comic Ranking 1st Place Acquisition For Consecutive Years”.
