The Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie is 155 minutes long and begins where the previous season ended. Ufotable, once again, hits it out of the stadium with the movie’s animation. Enough has already been said about Ufotable turning anything it touches into gold with its animation prowess.

Additionally, the voice actors also poured their souls into their performances, which will be remembered for years to come. However, there are specific moments in the movie that make it amazing.

The following review is spoilerless!

Zenitsu’s Resolve Steals The Thunder Of Other Battles.

The movie begins with all Demon Slayers falling into the Infinity Castle. The movie continuously switches from one battle to another in a well-edited sequence, so that you never feel disconnected from each fight. However, the most jaw-dropping battle takes place between Zenitsu and Kaigaku, the new upper rank 6 demon.

Kaigaku and Zenitsu share a past wherein the latter is a junior to the former, with both of them being the successors of Thunder Breathing Technique and school at the behest of their sensei, Jigoro Kuwajima. However, the ever-prideful Kaigaku sees this as an insult.

This decision and his false assumption of Jigoro playing favourites with Zenitsu develop into jealousy and force him to seek more power elsewhere. It eventually leads him to become a demon. Zenitsu, enraged by the very thought of a student of Thunder Breathing turning into a demon, let alone a successor of the technique and school, seeks out Kaigaku.

Thus, the battle for the glory of Thunder Breathing and righteousness begins. At first, the battle seems one-sided in Kaigaku’s favour due to his Thunder Breathing being incorporated in his Demonic Blood Art and near instant regeneration. However, his only weakness and Zenitsu’s only strength, i.e. the first form of Thunder Breathing, becomes the dealbreaker.

Zenitsu, with his newly developed 7th form of Thunder Breathing, an offshoot of the first, turned the tide of the battle in his favour while the fans electrified the theatre with their cheers. The animation, the emotion and Kaigaku’s angst knowing that a crybaby like Zenitsu developed a new form is a chef’s kiss.

Though Zenitsu’s battle takes the cake, it is another battle that makes your heart sob.

Akaza vs Tanjiro and Giyu: A Battle Of Broken Heart and Soul

Koyoharu Gotouge, the mangaka of Demon Slayer, has time and again shown us that not all demons are born out of evil. Sometimes, the circumstances, society, and karma born out of actions are the real evil that creates demons. Akaza is one such demon.

Akaza’s battle with Tanjiro and Giyu is intense in every sense of the word. It manages to grip your attention with its battle sequence and Tanjiro’s unlocking of new abilities. But more so, it manages to grind and bleed your soul with its ending.

The desire and thirst for power born out of protecting your loved ones, while human society, with its inequality, capitalist nature and disregard for others, pushes you to abandon your morals just to survive. Akaza’s story is all of that into one.

His choices lead Muzan to personally track him down and turn him into a demon without his consent. Eventually, turning an already screwed up life of Hakuji into an even worse life of Akaza. His story is something to be witnessed in the darkness of a theatre with pindrop silence and loads of tissue papers to wipe your tears.

So if you haven’t watched the movie yet, just get out of your bed and watch it right now. This movie is made to be watched in IMAX, so do watch it the way it is meant to be. No matter the cost, borrow money from friends and family to watch the movie, but do watch it.

Tickets for the movie are now open across theatres in India. The film will release on more than 750 screens nationwide, the widest release ever for an anime film in India across all formats. Fans can secure their tickets via leading cinema chains and online platforms ahead of the theatrical release on September 12. The film also marks a milestone as the first anime movie in India to release in five languages: Japanese (with English subtitles), English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Adding to the excitement, Crunchyroll has also launched special cab branding across four major cities in India, ensuring the film’s presence is felt on the streets as much as on the big screen.
