Crunchyroll announced that Attack On Titan will be honored with the first-ever Global Impact Award at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, set to take place in Tokyo on May 25.

The award aims to honor visionary creators and groundbreaking works that have left an indelible mark on culture, history and the hearts of audiences around the world.

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards is our yearly celebration of the creative community in Japan and the actors around the world who are powering the global love of anime. This year, we’re proud to introduce the new Global Impact Award. We recently commissioned a study with National Research Group that explores just how important anime is to fans, especially Gen Z. For example, nearly 40% of teen anime fans consider anime a meaningful part of who they are, and 30% say it has influenced their outlook on life. The Global Impact Award will honor the series and films leaving a mark on culture and global fans alike,” said Gita Rebbapragada, the Chief Operating Officer, Crunchyroll, to Variety.

A representative from animation studio MAPPA will attend the ceremony to accept the award on behalf of the production staff and cast.

Attack On Titan, based on Hajime Isayama’s manga, premiered in 2013 and ran until 2023. The anime concluded with a two-part Final Season and the theatrical release of The Last Attack, which compiled the final episodes.

The 9th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards will take place at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo.

The ceremony will be livestreamed on Crunchyroll’s Twitch and YouTube channels, Sony Pictures Core, and the Sony Group Corp Global YouTube Channel.

It will be available in nine languages, including English, Arabic, Hindi, French, and Spanish.

Moreover, Crunchyroll announced that the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards have set a new record, with over 51 million votes cast by fans worldwide.

This marks a nearly 50% increase from last year’s 34 million votes.
