Yuji Itadori Confirmed Alive In JJK Modulo, Setting Up Mahito Rivalry!

Ever since JJK Modulo started, fans have had one single question: will our favorite characters, come back? With every passing chapter, that possibility looked slimmer. I mean, the sequel is set so far in the future that it’s been confirmed even long-lived sorcerers like Maki and Yuta have died of old age.

For a while, it seemed like Panda was the only comic relief and returning character we were going to get. A small comfort, but not exactly what we were hoping for.

However, it has now been confirmed that the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen himself is still alive in the sequel series. And he might be making an appearance very, very soon.

Yuji confirmed alive in Modulo chapter 10

That’s right. After weeks of speculation and squinting at grainy panels, Chapter 10 (leaks that are widely available on SNS) explicitly states that Yuji Itadori is alive in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

We don’t know what he’s up to, where he’s been, or what he even looks like after all these decades. But he’s out there.

The reveal comes from the higher-ups of the current Japanese government. Faced with the diplomatic (for now) crisis with the aliens, the Simurians, they make a decision to locate Yuji. It’s a classic political move as they want their own formidable power on their side to balance the scales in the face of Dabura. A nuke of their own.

However, those without reading comprehension will know that this reveal didn’t come out of nowhere. The manga has been foreshadowing this.

Remember back in Chapter 6? We had that small panel where the old curse user, Masaki Takeda, was being cornered by Maru in the gym. He was thinking back to the only other time he felt that same overwhelming, terrifying pressure. The panel showed the character responsible for that memory.

Though it wasn’t officially confirmed then, we all knew. The features, the mouth scar — that was Yuji. And now, Chapter 10 has finally made it official.

While the question of how he survived and what state he’ll be in is there, this reveal obviously is big!!

What role could Yuji play in the manga?

So, the higher-ups want Yuji to play defense against an alien threat. But I have a feeling that’s just the B-plot.

Knowing Yuji, he isn’t just sitting in a temple somewhere. He’s almost certainly still out there as a wandering fighter, sticking to his original goal from Jujutsu Kaisenending the cycle of curses and helping people where he can.

However, I feel the real reason he is being brought back into the series is to set up his rivalry with Mahito again. Just like Yuji, the cursed spirit has been hinted to be present somewhere.

Mahito, as the embodiment of human fear and hatred, was destined to return. And in a world that will soon be terrified of a new alien threat, that collective negativity will likely make him appear again.

Let’s be honest, Mahito was one of the most iconic villains in the entire Jujutsu Kaisen run and his end always felt… unsatisfactory. Here was this agent of pure malice, a character with so much potential to inflict more pain and emotional damage, and he just gets absorbed. On top of that, Yuji wasn’t the one who dealt the final blow. Kenjaku snatched that kill, robbing us (and Yuji) of any real closure.

On top of that, the Yuji/Mahito dynamic was a narrative treat, a perfect clash of ideologies that forced both characters to grow. They were two sides of the same coin, and that story felt unfinished.

This sets the stage for what could possibly be the true final conflict of Modulo. If Mahito is returning, Yuji’s return makes total sense. To know why, just look back his words to the cursed spirit:

“I’ll kill you. Even if you come back as another curse, I’ll kill you. Change your name. Change your form. I’ll kill you again.”

What if this ended up being a binding vow? No? Ok, kidding!

The higher-ups may want Yuji for their political games, but his destiny is pulling him toward his unfinished business. The iconic rivalry between the man who learned to accept his role as a cog and the curse who embodies human malice is being revived. And I, for one, cannot wait.
