A sequel to the Yona Of The Dawn anime has been officially announced, a decade after the television series concluded.
This was revealed in issue #2/2026 of Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine, which was released on Dec 19, the same issue that published the final chapter of Mizuho Kusanagi’s original manga.
No additional details, including the format, staff, or release date, have been disclosed. The magazine noted that further information will be announced at a later date and encouraged fans to continue supporting the series.
Hakusensha also announced that Yona Of The Dawn will appear again in the magazine’s sixth issue, scheduled for release on Feb 20, with a special side story and a bonus fanbook. The 47th collected volume of the manga will be released on the same day.
The television anime adaptation, produced by Pierrot, aired from 2014 to 2015 and adapted only a portion of the manga’s storyline.
Yona Of The Dawn is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mizuho Kusanagi. The series began serialization in August 2009, with its chapters compiled into 46 collected volumes as of June 2025. Viz Media licenses the manga for English release in North America.
The manga has surpassed 15 million copies in cumulative circulation, cementing its status as one of Hakusensha’s flagship titles.
Viz Media describes the plot of the series as:
A red-haired princess loses her family and her kingdom… Now she must rise and fight for her throne!
Princess Yona lives an ideal life as the only princess of her kingdom. Doted on by her father, the king, and protected by her faithful guard Hak, she cherishes the time spent with the man she loves, Su-won. But everything changes on her 16th birthday when tragedy strikes her family!
Yona reels from the shock of witnessing a loved one’s murder and having to fight for her life. With Hak’s help, she flees the palace and struggles to survive while evading her enemy’s forces. But where will this displaced princess go when all the paths before her are uncertain?
