Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World anime has officially launched its 10th anniversary project, marking a decade since the series first aired in 2016. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a New Year commemorative visual and a special teaser promotional video.
The 10th anniversary project will unfold over the course of one year and consist of 10 major projects.
One of the first confirmed events is a special anniversary program scheduled to stream on Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. JST, featuring several core cast members, including Yusuke Kobayashi (Natsuki Subaru), Rie Takahashi (Emilia), Satomi Arai (Beatrice), Nobuhiko Okamoto (Garfiel Tinsel) and Kohei Amasaki (Otto Suwen).

Author Tappei Nagatsuki marked the occasion by reflecting on the series’ decade-long journey, describing the anniversary as a reminder of how quickly time has passed since the anime first brought his work to life.
He added that there are still many scenes and lines he hopes to see adapted, expressing a desire for the series to continue long enough to celebrate future milestones beyond the 10th anniversary.
“Congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the Re:ZERO anime! The speed at which time has passed is shocking, but just like the day my writing was first brought to life through illustrations, the excitement I felt when my work was adapted into an anime—when the characters began to move and speak—has never faded and still remains with me today. I’ve been able to see so many scenes animated that I poured my heart and soul into, but there are still countless scenes I want to see, lines I want to hear, and stories I can’t even begin to fully tell. Let’s make this a series that celebrates not just its 10th anniversary, but its 20th and 30th as well. Thank you for these past 10 years. And here’s to the 100th anniversary, too!”
Illustrator Shinichiro Otsuka echoed those sentiments, recalling his reaction to seeing his character designs animated and voiced for the first time. While noting that upcoming arcs pose significant challenges for animation, he said he is looking forward to seeing those demanding scenes realized with the same level of quality as previous seasons.
“Congratulations on the anime’s 10th anniversary! When I watched the opening of the very first episode, I was deeply moved to see characters I had designed come to life with voices and animation. But the visuals exceeded my imagination so much that partway through, I found myself simply enjoying it as a viewer. From Season 4 onward, there will be many scenes that are likely difficult to animate, and I imagine the staff will face many challenges. Still, thinking about being able to see those scenes brought to life at that level of quality already has me excited. I look forward to what’s to come, and I sincerely appreciate your continued support.”
