New Attack On Titan Illustration By Hajime Isayama Features In Bessatsu Shonen Magazine Cover

The cover page of the March 2023 issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, which released on Feb 9, 2023 in Japan, came with a special Attack on Titan illustration by author Hajime Isayama.

The illustration featured majority of the characters from the manga (and includes a major spoiler for anime watchers).

Isayama also had a comment for the readers of the magazine. A rough translation of the comment reads as follows:

Dear readers of Betsumaga, it has been a while. Nearly two years have passed since the end of the serialization. It is a great honor to be on the cover of a magazine although it has been almost two years since the series ended. I was struggling for a while because I couldn’t draw a picture with a lively atmosphere of a finished work. However, the composition was decided at the end, and I felt that this was the only way I could draw it.

This year, the TV anime will be completed, and I think it will be the end of the series soon. I hope you will support this project!

The Final edition of Attack on Titan anime’s final season will be airing this year. The first part of the final edition (Final Season Part 3 Part 1) will air as a one hour special on March 3, 2023 on NHK.

Born in 1986 in Oita Prefecture, Isayama made his debut in 2008 and started his first serialization, Attack on Titan, in 2009. The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. The chapters of the manga have been collected into 34 tankobon volumes, with the final 34th volume releasing on July 2021.

An anime television series was produced by Wit Studio (seasons 1–3) and MAPPA (season 4). A 25-episode first season was broadcast from April to September 2013, followed by a 12-episode second season broadcast from April to June 2017. A 22-episode third season was broadcast in two parts, with the first 12 episodes airing from July to October 2018 and the last 10 episodes airing from April to July 2019.

A fourth and final season premiered in December 2020, airing 16 episodes in its first part. A second part consisting of 12 episodes aired from January to April 2022.
