My Hero Academia’s 4th Anime Film To Release In Summer 2024

The Jump Festa 2024 stage for My Hero Academia, which took place on Dec 16, 2023, revealed that the franchise’s 4th anime film instalment will be releasing in the summer of 2024.

A new key visual was also unveiled to commemorate the announcement. An official website and twitter account for the movie were also unveiled.

The movie will be based on an original story by author Kohei Horikoshi, who will also be handling the character designs and be in charge of general supervision of the movie. The author said that the events of the movie will align with the chronology of the My Hero Academia anime.

“Again, the content will follow the timeline that was broadcast in the TV anime. The society that finally collapsed successfully in the anime will be the setting this time,” Horikoshi’s comment said.

More details, including the plot and the staff will be released on a further date.

The third movie instalment of the franchise, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, released in 2021. It was animated by Bones with Kenji Nagasaki helming it.

My Hero Academia is a manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, with its chapters collected into 39 tankōbon volumes as of November 2023. The series has numerous spin-off manga, including My Hero Academia: Smash!!, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes and My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions.
