Muse Asia Channel Gets Terminated By YouTube For ‘Violating Policy’, Restored Within Hours [Updated]

The official Facebook page of Muse Singapore, revealed that multiple channels of Muse Asia, one the largest licensors of anime in Asia, were terminated by YouTube on March 30, 2023.

Six of Muse Asia’s channels, including Muse Asia, Muse India, Muse ID Dub, Muse TH Dub and Muse Viet Dub, were taken down.

The reason for termination as stated by YouTube was ” multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s policy against spam, deceptive practices, and misleading content, or other terms of service violation”.

Update (30th March): However, these channels were restored by YouTube within a few hours of them being taken down, after Muse Asia’s team contacted YouTube to resolve the issue.

“Youtube claimed that we had been terminated because of ‘multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s policy against spam, deceptive practices, and misleading content, or other terms of service violation’. We contacted Youtube immediately to resolve the crisis. After several hours, we restored the channels by around midnight,” the latest statement released by Muse Asia read.

The team also thanked the fans for their support during the time of crisis and asked them to keep checking the company’s social handles in case such an event happened in the future.

“Thank you for all the support you showed us yesterday. It helped us overcome this scenario. We hope for your continued support in the journey ahead,” the team wrote.

While the videos and the channels were restored, the comments and other user data will be restored in a couple of days according to Muse Asia.

According to netizens, the channel termination had happened when Project Kawaii’s Airi Gwynevere was doing an anime marathon of Tokyo Revengers. She was 14 episodes into the anime when this occurred.

The earlier announcement on the licensor’s Facebook page said that they were working on resolving the issue at the earliest.
