Comico, a webtoon portal owned by NHN Japan Corporation, announced through a press release on Wednesday, Dec 15, 2021, that the manga app has undergone large-scale changes.
In order to further improve user operability and convenience, the company has performed the renewal of the app such as redesigning the UI and abolishing CM playback when consuming rental gauges.

The app has undergone changes as follows:
・ Abolished CM playback when consuming rental gauge
・ Power up “Rental for free by watching commercials” (app only)
・ Integrate rental tickets and points into tickets
・ “Get points by watching commercials” goes to daily bonus
・ Clearing missions rewards with tickets and coins
・ Official works Improved image quality
・ Rental gauges can be consumed for rental even in the WEB version
In addition to these changes, to commemorate the renewal of Comico, the company started three campaigns.
The outline of the Renewal Commemorative Campaign are as follows:
- 1. 5 free tickets distributed daily from Dec 15 – 29, 2021.
- 2. All stories of the target complete series including “ReLIFE” will be free from Dec 15-29, 2021.
- 3. Increased free stories of popular “isekai” series from Dec 15-29, 2021.
NHN Japan first launched its webtoon platform Comico in Japan on Oct 31, 2013. Alongside regularly serializing over 600 original manga and external IP works, popular works from each publisher are also available for distribution.
In addition, to the Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese versions of Comico, the English version “POCKET COMICS” has been pushed out around the world, with a total of 35 million downloads in the United States, Canada, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
